Google Calendar is back online. Here’s the latest on the outage.
No, it’s not you. Google Calendar really does appear to be down. Navigating to calendar.google.com will present you with a 404 error.
Twitter users began to complain about the outage at approximate 10:05 AM EST and Gizmodo staff has been unable to navigate to Google Calendar from either the US or Canada.
Google Calendar was down for users around the world for nearly three hours earlier today. Calendar users trying to access the service were met with a 404 error message through a browser from around 10AM ET until around 12:40PM ET. Google’s Calendar service dashboard now reveals that issues should be resolved for everyone within the next hour.
Update 10:48am EDT - Google responded to Gizmodo’s inquiry with a link to the G Suite status dashboard. Google is listing the outage as a service disruption and is investigating as of 10:22am EDT.
Update 12:01pm EDT — At 11:40am EDT Google bumped the problem with Google Calendar up from service disruption to service outage. It is still down.
Update 1:20pm EDT — Calendar appears to be back up and functioning for some people (including myself). Google claims full availability should be returned by 1:40pm EDT. Google has not stated what caused the outage.
Google Calendar’s issues come in the same month as another massive Google outage which saw YouTube, Gmail, and Snapchat taken offline because of problems with the company’s overall Cloud service. At the time, Google blamed “high levels of network congestion in the eastern USA” for the issues.
At 7:30 p.m., it said the "issue affecting Google Cloud, G Suite, and YouTube is resolved for the vast majority of users, and we expect a full resolution in the near future."
