Digital boyfriend!

Busy Programmer Designs Chatbot To Talk To His Girlfriend While At Work

This Software Engineer Designed a Chatbot to Chat With His Girlfriend While He's Busy at Work
Chinese programmer creates chatbot to reply to his girlfriend’s messages

  • A software programmer with a popular China-based commerce company has gone viral for his simple solution to maintaining a relationship

  • The creative solution was well-received by netizens, with many cracking jokes about needing the bot for themselves as well

  • His girlfriend did get a wee bit suspicious when she experienced something extremely rare: her “boyfriend” seemed to be responding instantaneously. If you’re a straight woman in a relationship, you know this is red flag city.

  • No word on whether his girlfriend discovered just how badly she’d been lead on. It’s not easy to hide this kind of sham in the hyperconnected world of Chinese Weibo gossip, especially when it involves getting caught for doing something dumb.

  • If homegirl is sending her boyfriend 300 messages during the workday, chances are that she’s Extremely Online enough to learn the truth about her newly-attentive beau.

  • However, the girl eventually got suspicious over the speed she was receiving messages from her “boyfriend.”

"How was this designed?” she asked, following it up with another query: “Why are you responding so fast?”

Li’s Weibo account seems to have been deleted but screenshots of his post have gone viral on the micro-blogging site.

“Brother, send me the source code please,” read one of the comments, according to Abacus News.

Others admired the man for his romantic gesture, while some admitted that chatting to a bot might actually not be that bad.

“Is it really a boyfriend that I lack? What I lack is a chatbot,” a Weibo user wrote.
