Amarnath yatra begins..



  • Amarnath Yatra 2019 will start from 01st July  till 15 Aug 2019


Amarnath Yatra 2019 Date: The annual pilgrimage starts from Srinagar and Pahalgam and ends at the Amarnath cave temple which is located at an altitude of 3,888 metres, about 141 km from Srinagar.

Amarnath Yatra 2019: The 46-day long annual yatra to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas will commence on July 1, the day of Masik Shivratri, and would conclude on August 15, the day of Shravan Purnima. The annual pilgrimage starts from Srinagar and Pahalgam and ends at the Amarnath cave temple which is located at an altitude of 3,888 metres, about 141 km from Srinagar.

Shri Amarnath Yatra 2019 - Schedule


The Yatra trek through the mountains of south Kashmir Himalayas to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji is made available only in the months of summer to pay obeisance. In the month of Shravan (July - August) the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji has the devout flock, where the image of Lord Shiva, in the form of a Lingam, is formed naturally of ice - stalagmite, and which waxes and wanes with the moon

Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has also introduced 'Group Registration' since last year to facilitate registration of those intending pilgrims who want to travel in a Group comprising relatives, friends or neighbors. The Group Registration is available for an announced period.
The present carrying capacity of the tracks, availability of infrastructure in the Yatra area and keeping in view all other relevant considerations it has been decided that 7500 pilgrims would be allowed to Register for Shri Amarnath Yatra - 2019 per day per route.

Transport Facilities



Transport Facility to be provided by Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) during Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2019

JKSRTC in order to provide smooth/efficient transport facilities to the Yatris during Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2019 has made following arrangements and facilities:


Establishment of Booking Counter


Booking Counters at the following places shall remain functional from morning till evening during


Yatra period:

  • Jammu Division
  • Shri Amarnath Ji Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
  • Rameshwari Mandir, Parade, Jammu.
  • T.R.C Jammu.
  • Railway Station, Jammu.
  • General Bus Stand, Jammu.
  • Kashmir Division
  • Nunwan, Pahalgam
  • Baltal, Sonamarg.
  • Srinagar Airport.
  • TRC, Srinagar.


Essential Documentation For Amarnath Yatra


Complete and proper documentation is a must before going to the yatra. It is imperative to register for the Yatra before devotees head for Amarnath. To get registered for holy sojourn:

1. Take your medical fitness certificate from a doctor authorized by SASB (Amarnath Shrine Board), which certifies you are fit for the physically arduous Yatra.

2. Essential documents you will need during the Yatra include (but not limited to) Voter ID, Driving License, Passport etc for your identity.



Establishment of Control Room at Jammu and Srinagar


Manager, Tourist Services Jammu and Srinagar will act as Provincial Nodal/Yatra Officers for Jammu and Srinagar respectively. Their respective Offices shall function as Control Room. The important Telephone numbers of Offices/Officers of JKSRTC at Srinagar and Jammu are given below:

Amarnath yatra to begin from Monday amid tight security





The officials said that forces are not taking any chances especially in the wake of February 14 Pulwama suicide attack which left 40 CRPF personnel dead

All arrangements have been put in place just some final touches are being given

IGP Kashmir reviews security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Swayam Prakash Pani on Saturday reviewed the security ahead of Amarnath Yatra in Kashmir.

Pani, he added, emphasised upon all concerned officers to stay alert and maintain effective coordination among forces during Yatra.

“The objective of the security review was sensitization of security forces about ground realities and their preparedness in terms of law and order, rendering assistance to the general public during times of crisis and assistance to the pilgrims who are scheduled to arrive for Shri Amarnath Yatra,” he said.
The 46-day yatra will conclude on August 15 coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.

To ensure the smooth passage of the yatra convoys on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, extra security measures have been put in place with J&K police, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the army providing security cover. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags have been affixed in all vehicles.

Shri Amarnath Shrine Shrine Board has procured Group Accidental Insurance Policy with a cover of 3 lakh rupees for three lakh registered Yatris and also for various categories of service providers including Ponywallas.

For ensuring effective security arrangements along the difficult tracks, only those Yatris who are in possession of a Yatra Permit will be allowed to proceed beyond the Base Camps and Access Control Gates at both base camps.

Children below 13 years, elderly persons above 75 years and pregnant lady with 6 weeks pregnancy shall not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage. Over 2 lakh 85 thousand Yatris had darshan of Shivlingam last year.

Srinagar, 



Jun 30 (PTI) Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh Sunday took stock of security arrangements on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway for the Amarnath Yatra, a police spokesperson said.


The DGP also reviewed the arrangements made for smooth traffic management on the highway during the 46-day pilgrimage which will commence on Monday, he said.

Singh inspected the security grid at different places, including Galandar, Barsoo Letpora, Awantipora Crossing, Walnut Factory and Shaitani Nallah, among others, he said.

At Shaitani Nallah, where the convoy is exchanged, the DGP was briefed about the preparedness and procedures adopted by the convoy commanders, the spokesperson said.

Elaborate electricity, medical facilities in place

The authorities have put in place adequate arrangements for the Amarnathyatra on the Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

An official said that joint control room functioning 24×7 has been set up at Baltal which would be attended by all representatives of different departments for quick services to yatris besides keep liaison with District Administration.

He said that like every year transit camps have been set up for the pilgrims at Sumbal and Manigam areas.
