This was the second highest chase by a team in the World Cup history. While Hasan scored an unbeaten 124, Das remained not out after scoring 94. This was Hasan’s second century of the tournament.
Earlier, fighting knocks by Shai Hope and Evin Lewis followed by a fiery cameo from Shimron Hetmyer powered West Indies to a massive 321/8. Hope missed his ton by a whisker and got out for 96 while Lewis added 70 off 67 deliveries. Hetmyer unleashed a blistering knock and scored 50 off just 26 deliveries to keep West Indies going.
But Bangladesh batsmen held their nerves and displayed great determination to go past West Indies total with eight overs to spare.
After reaching his fifth successive ODI 50, Shakib — who scored 121 against England earlier in the tournament — took command with a scintillating innings that climaxed when he stroked a boundary to reach his century.
